Charter of Engagement

1. Introduction

More than a simple formality, this Charter of Engagement, in addition to the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy, offers a common framework so as to ensure the proper functioning of Passerelles. This Charter is meant to evolve; every user is encouraged to share their comments and ideas.

2. About En commun

  • En commun is an ethical digital environment for connecting knowledge and socially-engaged people for the common good.
  • En commun is operated by Projet collectif and developed in close connection with its users and a wide range of partners, in the interest of complementarity. En commun adapts to the needs and practices of its users, taking an evolving approach that builds on collective intelligence.
  • En commun is subject to an ongoing process of participatory evaluation (details here).

3. Code of Conduct

  • En commun is based on values of respect, openness, inclusion, cooperation, and user-friendliness.
  • En commun encourages the use of nonviolent communication (NVC), which is based on three key concepts:
    • intention: NVC asks us to place compassion for ourselves and for others at the core of our relationships;
    • attention: NVC asks us to focus our attention and actively listen to ourselves and others and express ourselves authentically;
    • OFNR: NVC is based on a process of listening and expression in four steps: observation, feeling, need, and request.
  • En commun does not tolerate content that is false, inaccurate, misleading, defamatory, harmful, abusive, threatening, harassing, tortious, violent, vulgar, obscene, invasive of another’s right to privacy or confidentiality, hateful, racist, xenophobic, homophobic, sexist, or otherwise inappropriate.
  • En commun encourages a free circulation of content in compliance with the rules of intellectual property.
  • Users are encouraged to accept the idea of making mistakes and enjoy using En commun. :)

4. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Each user agrees to contribute, in their own way, to the dynamism of En commun. Each user is invited to share their knowledge and expertise, encourage collaboration and co-learning, and help establish a climate of trust and goodwill.
  • In Passerelles, a specific community is moderated by one or more members of the community. Managers encourage member participation, organize activities, coordinate content, and help create links with the other communities.
  • In Praxis, all users may freely create notes. A notebook is managed by one or more users.  The managers of a notebook are responsible for moderating the publication of content, organizing the notes, moderating the content, and establishing a content writing guide, if needed.

The Projet collectif team assures the development and coordination of En commun, offers support in moderating, publishing, and organizing content and using the platform, and helps create links between the communities. The Projet collectif team provides a hosting service of content created and disseminated by users and publishes content in accordance with its editorial policy
